| For over 50Â years, Compagnie des Alpes patiently protected the highly-prized Edenarc1800 land. It was in 2004 that it decided to sign a protocol for the acquisition of the land with Intrawest, developer of resort villages and subsidiary of the Canadian group of the same name.
Since June 2011, Sotheby’s International Realty – the world leader in luxury real estate – has chosen to market this unique resort in the French Alps.
At the time, a number of other developers were interested. However, Intrawest’s success in creating the village of Arc 1950 convinced SMA. In 2007, Intrawest obtained all the building permits for the site and were ready to launch the first building. In September 2007, in the face of the crisis in the financial markets and the real estate sector, Intrawest’s new shareholder, Fortress, opted to put off marketing the site. |
Two years later, in September 2009, Intrawest moved out of Europe. The group decided to sell the project to Sotarbat 360, who altered the real estate complex with making any fundamental changes to the master plan. The main change will involve creating an 800Â square metre aqua-relaxation area in the centre of Edenarc1800.
In December 2009, Sotarbat 360 and Odalys Vacances signed a management agreement for Edenarc1800. More recently, in June 2011, Sotheby’s International Realty – the number one international company specialising in luxury real estate – chose to work in association with Sotarbat 360 to develop the Edenarc1800 programme. Their objective: to offer their clients a new opportunity to invest in the French Alps. |
